A few weeks ago this blog was mentioned in a SPARK email newsletter. It actually generated a lot of interest. This past week I was contacted by a couple of online newspapers – one of the interviews was today with MLive.com – you can read the story here.
Some jobs simply are not posted. They are found jobs or created jobs. Recently I sent in a résumé for a job that wasn’t posted. How did I know there was an opening? I read the local online newspaper – AnnArbor.com and there was an article of about a woman that lost her job – I knew by reading that article that they would be looking for someone new – so I sent my résumé to the board. Many would have waited to see if the job was posted…it was bold to just assume but I also knew they needed to fill the position quickly.
All of your connections in life can help when you are job hunting. Leave no stone unturned! Use your resources within groups you belong to, LinkedIn, Facebook etc. Have a link to a generic résumé available at all times – you never know when you might need it.
